Fall Salon

On November 7, 2022, The Workshop held its second Artist Salon at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. The Salon expanded the exploration around collective memory.

Whether it is through playing with the inherited material culture of the immigration experience (MOTHER/ROAD), adapting a sacred memorial Yiddish theater and Black lives (The Blewish Dybbuk Project), or lampooning the absurdities inherent to, well, all MFA programs (yes, and…), the particularity of “Jewish memory” was deeply rooted in the work of the fellows.

Spring Salon

On March 7, The Workshop held its first Spring Salon. At the event, three of the inaugural fellows presented their work at an organizational partner’s performance space in Harlem. The fellows presented works meant to interrogate, dissect, provoke, subvert, and play with the many angles of collective memory and identity.

A Walk on the Moon Fellows

On March 14, The Workshop officially announced its partnership with George Street Playhouse for A Walk on the Moon: A New Musical. The Workshop created a paid fellowship for 3 BIPOC creatives (2 of whom are BIPOC Jewish), offering them tailored support and advocacy as they gain professional theater industry experience.
